Senior Mechanical Engineer

Reporting into the AMPM and Reliability Manager, this role is responsible for owning and developing the Mechanical operations.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Challenging the status quo, liaising with the Projects Engineer and working on development plans for CAPEX and innovation within the next 3 years. 
  •  Single point of contact for Mechanical Management of operations in the Calcination area.
  • Ownership of Mechanical Budget for Calcination area.  Both delivering through high performing equipment with best-in-class uptime and designing future plans.
  • Along with the rest of the Calcination Engineering Cell, preparing shutdown plans and organising contractor work packages to be handed to the Maintenance Engineer and the preventative team to be carried out.
  • Using the business CMMS, along with the rest of the Engineering Cell to build a yearly standard maintenance plan for repetitive frequency tasks (Both AM and PM) and forecasting yearly baseline budget requirements (both downtime and financial).
  • Feeding back AM/PM metrics to the management team and BU as required.
  • Ensuring the AM/PM 7 step methodology is supported and followed for each area of plant, supported by the CI team.
  • Attend morning, and area meetings and ensure actions are taken away and closed out.
  • Monitoring reactive trends and implementing plans and systems of work to prevent repeat episodes.
  • Ownership of Continuous Improvement activities such as SAMs and COGs, managing these workstreams from introduction to completion within the Engineering team.
  • Ensuring your function and teammates monitor reactive work but do not drift into firefighting.
  • Development of the PM Engineer and CBM Engineer Positions reporting into this position, completion of reviews, appraisals and training documentation

 

This role is predominantly onsite (80% Office Based /20% Plant Based).

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven frontline maintenance experience within a continuous process manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with CBM program with proof of interpreting results/trends.
  • Experience in planning in an FMCG environment.
  • HNC/HND or suitably experienced in a similar role.
  • Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • GCSE grade A-C in Math’s and English (or equivalent).
  • Safety Qualification - IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Project management skills.
  • SAP PM, MS Projects, 5S and AM/PM 7.
  • You must be an excellent communicator, involving and listening to our customers and ensuring up-to-date and consistent information is fed back with transparency.
