The position

 

The Business Development Manager will focus on developing and achieving sustainable growth in turnover, margin and market share for the Netherlands. This should be achieved by approaching and working with project developers, large contractors, building owners, etc. Solution selling and selling innovative products and systems are some fundamental tasks.

 

Core tasks belonging to the position are:

 

  • Strategic market development: focus on market analysis, identifying trends and opportunities, and developing and executing strategic growth plans.
  • Sales and customer management: This job involves acquiring new customers and projects, building strategic relationships, and advising customers on appropriate solutions. In addition, contract negotiations, active sales funnel management and increasing win ratios through structured opportunity management are part of it.
  • Innovation and sustainability: focused on translating customer and market needs into innovative, sustainable solutions. This includes collaboration with Product Management and R&D, supporting certifications and drawing up business cases for new products and services.
  • Internal collaboration and reporting: Collaboration with internal teams to develop integrated market approaches, share market insights, and report to management. Presentations and business cases are also prepared and long-term strategies and investment proposals are contributed.

 

Skills

 

Technical knowledge:

  • Thourough knowledget of solution sales, consultative selling en business development.
  • Insight into the building and construction sector, including trends such as sustainability and circularity.
  • Knowledge of contract negotiations, pricing strategies and project management.

 

Management skills:

  • Leading market and customer development processes.
  • Co-creation with R&D, marketing and sales to bring new solutions to the market.
  • Relationship management for architects, large contractors, specifiers, distributors and building owners.

 

Social skills:

  • Strong in networking, negotiating and persuading.
  • Ability to connect and direct multidisciplinary teams.
  • Inspiring discussion partner for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Having a function-relevant network, aimed at the target groups

 

Education and experience

 

  • Education on Bachelor in the direction of Technical Construction (e.g. Architecture) with a Commercial focus.
  • At least 10/15 years of experience in national companies in a country/multiple role countries/ multi-divisions (Sales management/ Business Development)
  • Proven expertise in the construction industry at a leading manufacturer or retailer
  • Ability to easily navigate in a matrix environment
  • Experience in liaising with and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the business, as well as building and maintaining relationships with external partners.
