IT Product Owner Industry 4.0

Mission and Context

You are responsible for managing the Industry 4.0 approach & related use cases in the manufacturing area from the IT Applications department.
This includes managing innovative use cases across all technology aspects, such as network, security, infrastructure, applications, data & engineering.

This will also involve use cases around digitalization of the plant operations through low code applications such as Mendix, as well as introduction of new technology in the plants (AI, augmented reality,..) and working with the manufacturing teams to support a local champions community

Roles and Responsibilities

The product owner is the interface between the I4.0 platform and the IT organization and is a trusted and accountable partner of the I4.0 core group to validate & plan use cases, connect to business strategies and priorities, ensure fit in the technology guidelines & frameworks and ensure to maximize the replication potential of local initiatives.

Build & support the manufacturing local champions community and establish & promote citizen developer skills and self service tools.

Helps understand the organizational capabilities, skills and technology required to deliver on the roadmap

Ensure timely, qualitative, and cost-effective delivery of projects and use cases for the business according to the defined targets and project deliverables.

Gathers and evaluates business demands in alignment with the I4.0 core group and local champions, to understand the requirements and impacts on the current state of the product.

Collaborates with the development/delivery teams that support and evolve the product. Aligns future solutions together with product managers, SME​, project manager, solution architect and service manager.

End-to-End responsible of the product (standardization) within Etex IT ( Project / changes and transition to operations.)

Reporting line

You will report directly to the Manufacturing Applications Lead.


Product / Domain Knowledge on I4.0, you have an IT or business Master’s degree and affinity with technology, systems and solutions in particular.  

You have deep knowledge of business processes (MOM), best practices and/or industry solutions in the manufacturing space (ISA-95 Level 3), as well as with integration of automation systems (ISA-95 level 1/2) and ERP (ISA-95 level 4)

Strong affinity with plant and engineering organizations and experience with Low code platforms (Mendix) is a strong advantage

You have experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) implementation and you have proven skills in building and executing on an Industry 4.0 roadmap and initiatives

Experience with big data requirements & data science is a plus and You have a good understanding of infrastructure, security and network requirements in a plant environment

You have a good knowledge of operations technology (OT – PLC, SCADA, historians, IIOT,…) and IT/OT connectivity

You have strong & impactful communication skills (both oral and written), presentation skills and interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

You have strong analytical skills, are strong in conceptual thinking with an ability to translate complex technical information into business focused solutions, incl. design thinking.

You have a customer focus and agile mindset, build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions that drive business value and/or efficiencies.

You are familiar with agile delivery methods.

Language Skills

Fluent knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of other European languages is an advantage.

Work Location

The position is located in Kapelle-op-den-Bos.

Geographical Context and Travel Requirements

You are prepared to travel as needed.
