This program is a 2 year apprenticeship through Wakefield College.
Starting salary rate: £7.75/hour
As a Manufacturing Apprentice, you’ll rotate through departments across our manufacturing site, gaining a well-rounded understanding of our operations while studying towards an NVQ in Lean Manufacturing Operations.
What you’ll do:
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental compliance procedures, promoting a safety-first mindset.
- Rotate through different departments to build a broad understanding of manufacturing operations.
- Maintain an apprentice journal to document key learnings and development areas.
- Support with quality testing of materials and products, ensuring they meet internal and external standards.
- Record data accurately in line with operational and quality procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Support Autonomous Maintenance by carrying out basic equipment care (CILT: Clean, Inspect, Lubricate, Tighten).
- Perform visual inspections and help identify equipment reliability issues.
- Minimise waste, support recycling efforts, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
- Study and complete all apprenticeship coursework, assessments, and qualifications on time.
What you’ll bring:
- GCSEs or A levels at C or above in Maths and English.
- A genuine interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team with good communication and organisational skills.
- Proactive, flexible, and adaptable.
