You will play a key role in shaping and driving a strong EHS culture across our construction activities and Leeds manufacturing site. In this dynamic, hands‑on role, you’ll partner with cross‑functional teams to elevate safety standards, ensure compliance, and continuously improve performance across the business.

What you'll do: 

  • Conducting regular EHS audits and inspections across UK construction sites and the Leeds factory
  • Travelling across the UK (and occasionally Ireland) to support site teams
  • Advising and supporting operational teams to ensure legal compliance and audit readiness
  • Driving a positive safety culture through engagement activities and leading KPIs
  • Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and non‑conformance reporting
  • Identifying trends and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) and managing accreditations (e.g. CHAS, Constructionline)
  • Assisting with pre‑construction and tender processes
  • Promoting the use of digital tools (EHS App, Field View) and supporting IMS development
  • Managing personal injury claims and supporting reporting processes
  • Collaborating closely with SHEQ, Quality, and Technical teams
  • Supporting the EHS Manager and Head of SHEQ
  • Leading by example and championing Etex values throughout the business

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven EHS experience within construction (principal contractor and/or subcontractor environment)
  • Knowledge of modern construction methods (MMC, steel structures, off-site construction) and manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of EHS legislation, construction regulations, and ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001)
  • Practical knowledge of key risk areas including temporary works, lifting operations, working at height, and work equipment (incl. LOTOTO)
  • Ability to engage, influence, and drive a positive safety culture across all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying trends and driving improvements
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Comfortable acting as a subject matter expert and making decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to travel regularly, including overnight stays
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and digital tools)
