Location:

Summary

We are an international leader in sustainable construction, driven by a passion for excellence, but it's our people that are our top priority. We connect, collaborate, and champion the well-being of our employees, forming partnerships and pioneering change in our ever-evolving industry.

At Etex, we seek to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our customers and our communities. Are you looking for a company where you can learn, grow & lead? Join us as a Technical Advisor in Measham!

You'll be the first point of contact for technical questions about our fire stopping systems, giving clear advice and preparing specifications for real projects. You'll also get hands-on with fire testing, which is a rare and valuable chance to build your skills. You'll be buddied up with an experienced Technical Advisor and learn through mostly practical, one to one training over around six months, and we'll pay for your Institution of Fire Engineers Level 2 exam and support you towards it. The role is based at Measham, 40 hours a week, working in the office from 8:00 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday and from home on Fridays from 8:00 to 15:30, with site visits around two to three times a month and a trip within Europe about once every few months.

What you'll do

  • Give clear technical advice to customers by phone and email, replying within 24 hours.
  • Prepare system specifications for projects, with typical details and simple drawings using design software where needed, helping customers choose the right solution.
  • Visit customer sites regularly to help with project issues, including facade cavity barrier enquiries.
  • Support fire testing, from furnace tests through to full scale fire tests, including designing, installing and witnessing them, and keeping tools and materials organised.
  • Deliver product awareness training to customers and colleagues, and manage its accreditation.
  • Report monthly on key interactions, enquiry trends and personal development, and log 25 hours of professional development a year.
  • Contribute to test standards task groups, look for new testing opportunities and help improve the technical department's processes.

What you'll bring

  • Experience in a customer service or technical advisory role, ideally within construction.
  • The ability to explain technical information simply.
  • The ability to solve problems and give clear advice based on technical details.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office.
  • Basic AutoCAD skills would be a bonus.
  • Experience in passive fire protection would be a bonus.
  • Physical fitness to carry out fire test installs where required, and the ability to drive and travel where required.
