Assistant Quantity Surveyor

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will monitor and control costs of contracts whilst maximising value. This role is critical in supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Head of Contracts to protect all business contracts whilst maintaining good customer relations.


What you’ll do:

  • Manage sub-contract procurement including preparation of order documents.
  • Process subcontractor requests for payment and issue of notices.
  • Measure progress, assist in submitting valuations, final accounts preparation and retention release, and monitor receipt of payments in a timely manner.
  • Conduct change management control and costing (Variations), as well as raise purchase orders within budget allowances.
  • Manage the day-to-day cost control to include monitoring and reporting and contract administration to ensure specification and pricing is compliant.
  • Complete a monthly cost/valuation report and cash flow for designated projects.
  • Attend project and company related meetings, and any other task commensurate with this post.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Vocational experience (HND, HNC, BTech) or equivalent relevant working experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Experience in a similar role and understanding of contract terminology and subcontractor practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly detail-orientated and organised with the ability to manage multiple projects.
