- Review client documentation to ensure it is comprehensive enough to generate an accurate quotation.
- Provide clients with clear guidance on key plans and the proposed loadbearing layout.
- Advise clients on potential cost implications or variations resulting from design changes.
- Liaise with clients and internal teams to identify value engineering opportunities during the tender stage.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships via phone and direct communication.
- Address commercial queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure a smooth transition from estimating to design through a comprehensive sales handover process.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance commercial processes.
- Collaborate with the sales team to improve the quality of information and the handover process to estimating.
- Liaise with the purchasing team regarding current costs for materials and purchased items.
What you’ll bring:
-
- Proven experience in estimating, ideally within the construction or manufacturing sector.
- Ideally you will have knowledge of light gauge steel, offsite construction, and modern methods of construction (MMC).
- Background in manufacturing processes and their application to construction projects.
- Familiarity with quantity surveying principles and cost control methods
- Proficiency in using relevant software (e.g., AutoCad, Microsoft Office).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, sales teams, and internal departments.
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
