About the role

We have a unique opportunity for a UK Technical Advisor to join our newly created UK insulation division working primarily with a well-respected brand with a strong presence in the market across Europe with 11 manufacturing sites creating quality focused products in glass wool insulation and XPS insulation. The role will focus on the UK market and is home based, anywhere in the country with occasional travel to visit customers sites throughout the UK.

 

This is a fantastic role with the main aim of supporting our UK customer base with technical expertise.  Working primarily in a small, tight knit UK sales team, you will provide support to those sales colleagues as they strive to deliver a comprehensive service to customers in distribution, house builders, specifiers, installers, and construction industries providing technical expertise to ensure the right product is sold for the application necessary. This role will require significant technical knowledge in insulation products but also requires a high level of interpersonal skills to build long lasting relationships with customers and colleagues alike, delivering training to customers and end-users on product attributes and providing U-value calculations and responding to other technical queries, linked to a knowledge of building regulations ,resolving issues and complaints. Would suit a graduate in Building Sciences or someone with SAP assessment experience.

Key responsibilities specific to the role

•    Ensure the health, safety & wellbeing of yourself and your colleagues as first priority.
•    Build on technical knowledge and expertise across the portfolio, developing customer orientated product offerings in association with colleagues in the wider Etex group.
•    Supporting customer base with product training delivered by various methods to suit the needs of the customer, responding to customer requests for U-value calculations with accuracy and in a timely manner.
•    Building ever stronger relationships with key customers, distributors, architects, contractors and other specifiers, becoming a reliable and respected subject matter expert with deep product knowledge and wide understanding of construction processes.
•    Respond to customer issues and complaints working in partnership with the customer to devise mutually acceptable solutions.
•    Take ownership of product certifications such as BBA ensuring all requirements are met in a timely fashion to ensure seamless continuation of certification.
•    Develop and implement internal communications to ensure colleagues are kept abreast of technical developments and changes.
•    Building strong relationships with team members based on honesty and integrity and genuine expertise. 
•    Works with the wider team across the insulation division Europe wide and including Commercial, H&S, Finance contributing to projects as required. 

About you

What we need from you


We would be especially keen to hear from candidates who have previous experience in a similar role in the insulation industry.  However, consideration will be given to candidates who have full knowledge and understanding of construction methods in both domestic and commercial sectors backed with a relevant qualification, preferably a degree in Building Science or similar and a strong desire to learn our fascinating products and their applications.  


Essential Skills


•    Technical knowledge and understanding of mineral wool insulation from manufacture to practical application.
•    Knowledge of Insulation and Rainscreen facade products.
•    Highly organised and skilled in time-management.
•    Proficient in all relevant I.T systems.
•    Working knowledge of U-value calculations.
•    Working knowledge of building standards relating to thermal and acoustic insulation.
•    Proven ability in technical product process and certification.
•    Highly effective communication skills. 
•    Proven ability to sustain positive relationships with a range of customers of varying levels.

Experience and qualifications

  • The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of sector-specific experience and industry-certified training.
