What You'll Do:
- Develop and execute strategic plans for the procurement and management of steel, aligning with company objectives and market trends.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent and reliable sources of steel.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and regulatory changes to anticipate and mitigate potential disruptions.
- Analyse data and key performance indicators to track supplier performance, inventory levels, and cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as operations, finance, and R&D to understand mineral requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and innovate within the steel category.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in procurement or category management, preferably within the steel or related industry.
- Certification in purchasing or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, CIPS) or equivalent by experience.
- Strong understanding of steel markets, including pricing dynamics, supply chain complexities, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement specific category strategies to ensure supply security, achieve cost competitiveness and promote circularity.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successfully managing supplier relationships and contract negotiations.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools to assess supplier performance, market trends, and cost drivers.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate cross-functionally and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and make data-driven decisions to meet business objectives.
