As part of Etex Manufacturing the Global Process Engineering organization optimizes and standardizes our technical manufacturing processes. A flawless customer delivery with the aim of zero-defects based on process capability and first-time right philosophy are our vision and purpose.

Mission

The mission of the Microporous Process Engineer is to act as the Center of Excellence supporting our plants in continuously improving the manufacturing processes. Identification of improvement potential for quality, productivity safety, and cost are key to the role. You will formalize, implement and own the standard practices within the microporous manufacturing community.

Key roles and responsibilities (1/2)

1    Support plants to implement manufacturing process improvements

  • Identify inefficiencies in the manufacturing process across the plants
  • Define improvement plans (in alignment with the plants and other group functions like ITC, EE, CI)
  • Drive the implementation and regularly follow-up on the progress
  • Measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the actions
  • Re-evaluate the results when needed
  • Promotes Health & Safety and at all time   


2    Process standardization and assurance

  • Challenge the status-quo and derive/formalize the optimal process specifications into standard practices
  • Champions the implementation and sustainment of process improvements and standardization using appropriate standardized methods and tools to measure the process maturity at the plants and to assure the plants conformity with process specification

Key roles and responsibilities (2/2)

3    Training

  • Assess the knowledge of the local process experts and provide them with training as and when required
  • Take part in the Process Pillar of our Operations Academy as a coach and trainer to support the dissemination of the microporous process knowledge to the plants

Functional Knowledge

  • Strong capability of process improvement and experience related methodologies, ideally Six Sigma
  • Solid project management skills related to an operational environment
  • Good understanding of Microporous materials and how they are produced

Interpersonal skills

  • Result driven and target oriented with the ability to implement standards in an agile environment
  • Able to act as a change agent and can motivate others on both shopfloor and management level
  • Excellent organization skills and willingness document/write standards
  • Displaying high awareness for personal safety and challenging others when unsafe behavior is observed

Job requirements and qualifications

Minimum education:    Engineering degree or equivalent experience
Minimum experience:    At least 5 years of working experience in the chemical sector, preferably with microporous materials, ideally in roles of production, process, or quality. Alternatively, in a technician role with very high knowledge about manufacturing microporous materials. 
Language skills:    Good written and spoken English. Any other major European language is advantageous. Dutch would be a plus.

Work Location and travel requirements

Position would be ideally located in Belgium (near Sint-Niklaas), however can also be performed from any European Etex location with frequent (~40%) travel to Belgium. Occasionally, intercontinental travel to our plants in the US and Japan will be required. Flexible work and home-office is generally possible and encouraged as the work schedule permits.
